The Prestige Difference

Proper Cleaners for Each Surface

We use specific and proper restorative cleaners for each individual surface and problem, including soap scum, efflorescence, mold, mildew, and more. We make sure the restorative cleaner is right for that surface so we can clean it properly without damaging it.

May just spray bleach or use a simple cleaner from a big-box store, using the same product on all surfaces.

350°F High-Temperature Steam Cleaning

We steam everything with professional steam cleaners that produce steam around 350°F. That high temperature can kill mold and significantly reduce viable mold spores, helping stop living mold from continuing to grow and reproduce. When we remove stains, we also clean and steam behind them so the mold is treated instead of simply hidden underneath new caulk.

May use cheaper steam cleaners that do not even reach 200°F and may spray bleach to try to “bleach,” or lighten, the mold instead of properly treating the area.

Grout Patching & Repair

We include grout patching and repair in all of our cleaning and sealing services when needed.

May try to upcharge for grout repairs because they were not included in the original quote.

There Is No Small Job to Us

Every job gets put on the table at our weekly meetings and is discussed in detail. The job is given to the proper technician. We value communication from sales to the office to the technician so everyone understands the job before the work begins.

Your smaller job may just get rushed so the technician can get to the next one. Most of the time, the job may not even be discussed with the technician beforehand.

Proper Technician Training

Our technicians complete full professional training through MB Stone, covering stone restoration, flooring, polishing, stain removal, repairs, grout and shower restoration, equipment, products, and proper water-mixing procedures. They also receive additional and ongoing in-house training at our fully built training facility in Schenectady.

Some companies hire technicians and simply put them under the supervision of a lead technician without ever providing proper formal training. Over time, this can result in poor performance and bad habits being passed from one technician to another.

Our Estimators Were Technicians First

Our estimators were technicians first. Why does this matter? As an estimator, you need to have an eye for the small details and nuances that can make the difference between a job going smoothly and a job turning into problems. Because our estimators have hands-on field experience and proper technical training, they know what to look for, what questions to ask, and how to communicate clearly with the office and technician about the details of the job before work begins.

Other companies may hire outside salespeople with little or no prior experience in this field. They may be good at sales, but without hands-on training in such a specialized service, they can easily miss important details that affect the scope, preparation, pricing, and final outcome of the job.

Every Job Is Followed Up on by the Boss

The owner personally calls every customer within a few days of completion to make sure they are completely satisfied and happy with the outcome of the job we did. We guarantee all of our work and fix any issues ASAP until the customer is 100% satisfied.

May collect payment and move on — you’re left to chase someone down if an issue comes up. You will most likely never hear from the owner, even if an issue arises.
