Recaulking

Whether it’s your shower, tub, sink or back-splash, caulking plays a crucial role in protecting your surfaces against water damage, mold and expensive repairs.

When you start to notice cracking, peeling, separation, mold, mildew, hardening or no caulk at all, it’s time to get that surface recaulked. New caulking will also significantly improve the look of any surface to like new. While caulking isn’t permanent, we have put in the time and
effort to understand how it works and how to get the most out of it. That’s why all of our caulking lasts for a minimum of 3-5 years.

Shower and Bathtub Recaulking

Wet areas are a great hideout for mold and mildew, so next time you’re in your shower take a look around and make sure your caulking is secure. Even the slightest separation can cause mold to grow underneath the caulk and turn into water damage or even cause health issues.

In wet areas, we only use premium 100% silicone caulking with microban for added mold and mildew protection. Over 30 custom colors for a perfect match.
In dry areas, we use a premium acrylic based caulk, which allows for a paintable, mold and mildew free and crack free surface. (Sanded or non-sanded options in over 20 colors.)

Surfaces that may need caulking or recaulking:

  • Showers, tubs, sinks and fixtures.
  • Backsplashes.
  • Thresholds and Trim – Tile/Wood, Tile/Doors, Tile/Drywall.

Our process includes: Removal of all old caulking, high heat/high pressure steam cleaning (to kill any residual mold or mildew) and drying of all joints to insure a water tight, long lasting grasp to the surface.

Regrouting

In the circumstance where your grout is deteriorating, just wasn’t installed properly or even happens to be chipping and cracking, Prestige will recommend a regrouting service. We will remove and replace all of the deteriorating grout and install new high quality pre sealed sanded or non sanded grout. We never skim coat or skimp on the prepping and removal of your old grout. We believe in quality and a job that will last for years to come.

Epoxy Grout For Shower Floors & Other Areas

Epoxy grout can be used on any surface joint and is especially made for natural stone but we found it to be the most maintenance free for use on shower floors.

This is the most common area in a house that will mold and become stained over time. 95% of installations are done with regular sanded or non sanded grout and NOT epoxy grout. Even when sealed properly, clear sealants will only last about 6 months to a year on a shower floor and then your grout will become permanently stained.

When hiring a company to clean your shower floor, most will only give you the option of re cleaning and re sealing your shower floor and even sometimes painting the grout lines. This does not last and will only peel in the immediate future.

Cost and Cure Times

Recaulking starts at $200. We remove all the old caulk, steam clean the joints at 350° to kill mold, dry them, and recaulk with premium 100% silicone with Microban in wet areas. Plan on 48 hours before using the shower or tub. Some say 24, but 48 is best practice for a watertight bond.

Regrouting with standard grout takes about 3 days before regular use.

Epoxy regrouting of shower floors starts around $950. We use only Laticrete SpectraLOCK PRO, a true 3-part epoxy grout that’s stain-proof, waterproof and the most durable grout available. Epoxy grout needs 14 days to fully cure, and we’ll walk you through how to use your shower during that time.

No, and we don’t. New grout over old won’t bond and will crack and peel. We remove the deteriorating grout first, then install new grout properly. We never skim-coat.
